The Holmdel Foundation for Educational Excellence (HFEE) Innovation Grants Program provides impactful funding to innovative and creative projects that enhance the school curriculum and enrich the learning experience for Holmdel Public School District students from Pre-K through Grade 12. The HFEE  supports initiatives that would not otherwise be funded through the traditional Holmdel School District budget.

Each year, we invite Holmdel faculty and students to apply for Innovation Grants that support the following broad categories: scholastic projects that enhance or expand curricula, initiatives in the arts, and innovative one-year pilot projects.

In past years, the HFEE has funded various applications that fall into these broad categories, including:

  • Expansion of the media library - William R. Satz Middle School
  • The development of a butterfly garden to enhance science education – Village School
  • Purchase of equipment necessary for student research projects - Holmdel High School Drumline equipment for the High School Pep Band
  • Expansion of inclusive physical education through adaptive bikes – Holmdel High School Enhancement of the Robotics curriculum – Holmdel High School

To date, the HFEE has donated over $340,000 towards the Innovation Grants.

HFEE 2026-2027 Innovation Grant Application Process is now OPEN!

Testimonials from teachers at Holmdel Schools with regard to the Innovation Fund (Mini Grant) Program.

“I wish to offer my sincerest thanks and appreciation to the HFEE for the mini-grant. My students have benefited greatly from the expansion of our classroom library. Our MAP scores have revealed a significant jump in my students' vocabulary acquisition which I contribute in part to their organic exposure to new language found in our new and exciting classroom library books,” said Marissa Crimoli, 8th grade English Teacher at William R. Satz School.

“The HFEE mini-grants provide a unique opportunity for teachers and students to discover and explore our curriculum in a whole new way! The projects and ideas span the disciplines, including initiatives in the arts, engineering, technology, athletics, humanities, mathematics and science”, said Dr. Dineen Seeley, Director of Curriculum and Instruction. “I am honored to work with the mini-grant committee to help support making the visions of our students and faculty a reality. The generosity of our community through the Foundation is deeply appreciated.”
